It is settimana santo in Calitri. Among the religious traditions of the village, the most suggestive are those related to the weeks of Lent. They begin before sunrise. Townsmen gather in the streets of the Centro Storico and offer genuine testimonials, popular yet true, with respect for the tragedy of the Passion. These ancient traditions culminate in a cappella songs used to accompany the procession of the statue of Christ carried along the ascent to the Calvary Chapel seen clearly from my balcony.
